When was the last time you took a close look at your driveway? Although you probably park on it and walk over it each and every day, you may not ever take the time to evaluate its state. This might be a problem if your driveway has seen better days and could use a few improvements – like the installation of travertine pavers.
Natural stone pavers are a great choice if you’re looking to transform your driveway from an old eyesore into a new, efficient and attractive aspect of your front yard. But how exactly do you know when it’s time for a new travertine driveway? Here are four signs.
1. It’s deteriorating
With everyday wear and tear occurring for years on end, most paved driveways will start to show signs of crumbling within a few years. Sand starts working its way out of the asphalt, which results in loose gravel, cracks and even potholes as the years go by.
This damage is a major problem, as the stability of the driveway becomes compromised and it’s effectiveness and safety are no longer guaranteed. That’s not to mention the fact that it’s making your home look older!
The good news is that travertine pavers are durable, and if for some reason one gets damaged, it’s easy to replace.
2. The surface is faded
Paved driveways look nice and clean when they’re first installed, but after a couple of years, the surface begins to oxidize because of daily sunlight exposure. This turns the deep, rich black into a faded gray, which probably isn’t what you signed up for.
Travertine pavers, though, won’t fade over time, whether it’s from water or sunlight exposure. They always look gorgeous!
3. It’s covered in oil stains
Cars have a tendency to leak oil, which is unfortunate for the look of your driveway. There’s nothing pretty about big, black, slippery stains that you have to step over in order to save the soles of your shoes!
Pavers can be sealed to lock out moisture and protect the stone against stains, so you won’t have to worry about those ugly oil marks.
4. It’s not doing your home’s curb appeal any favors
If your current driveway is reminiscent of a commercial parking lot, it’s definitely not complementing your painstakingly manicured landscape!
If you took the time to make your yard, front porch and home’s exterior as beautiful as possible, why would you stop there? Travertine pavers can elevate your home’s curb appeal and enhance the eye-catching characteristics of your not-so-humble-anymore abode!
