How to Clean Travertine Tiles

Travertine tiles are a natural stone product and should be cleaned using gentle, non-abrasive methods to help maintain their finish and appearance. Routine cleaning can typically be done with a soft mop or cloth, a pH-neutral stone-safe cleaner, and warm water.

Avoid acidic or harsh chemical cleaners, as they may etch or dull the surface of the stone. This includes vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or citrus-based products, which can break down the stone’s natural composition over time.

For deeper cleaning, a soft-bristled brush or microfiber mop may be used in conjunction with a travertine-safe cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry completely.

In the case of stubborn stains, some professionals use a poultice made for natural stone. Always test any product on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it does not alter the appearance of the tile.

Suggested product:

  • DuPont™ StoneTech® Revitalizer Cleaner and Protector – Formulated for natural stone surfaces.

Always refer to the specific cleaner’s label to confirm compatibility with natural stone and follow all manufacturer instructions.
