General Guidance on How to Install Travertine Pavers on Concrete
Travertine pavers can be installed directly over an existing concrete surface using the mud-set (wet-set) method, similar to other natural stone or tile products.
Before installation begins, remove the pavers from their crates and loosely arrange them in the intended area. Since travertine is a natural stone with variation in tone, it’s recommended to pull pieces from multiple pallets and blend them throughout the layout to achieve a more balanced and natural-looking color transition.
Surface Preparation

The concrete surface must be clean, stable, and free from any debris, dust, or old adhesive residue.

Any large cracks should be patched or repaired before installation to ensure a smooth and even bonding surface.
Setting the Pavers

Apply a layer of FlexBond (or a similar flexible thin-set mortar) directly onto the concrete base.

Use a ½” notched trowel to spread the mortar evenly across small working sections.

For improved adhesion, you may also apply a thin layer of FlexBond to the back of each travertine paver before setting it in place.

Carefully position the pavers onto the mortar and lightly tap them with a rubber mallet to ensure a firm bond.

Once all pavers are in place, allow them to cure undisturbed per the mortar manufacturer’s instructions before grouting or using the surface.
