Travertine pavers are often installed with minimal spacing between each stone. Many installers choose to place the pavers directly adjacent to one another, without leaving a traditional grout line or gap. This tight-fit method can create a seamless, natural appearance.
Instead of grout, some professionals prefer to use polymeric sand to fill the joints after installation. When applied correctly, polymeric sand may help reduce shifting between pavers and limit weed growth in the joints. The sand is swept into the gaps and then misted with water to activate the binding agents, which can create a semi-solid joint filler.
For general guidance on using polymeric sand with travertine pavers, refer to our detailed Polymeric Sand Guide.
Keep in mind that installation practices may vary based on regional climate, site conditions, and the type of project.
