How to install Travertine Pool Coping

General Guidelines for Installing Travertine Pool Coping

When selecting Travertine Pool Coping, the size you choose may depend on the shape and design of your pool. Larger sizes, such as 12″x12″ or 12″x24″, are often used for straight-edge pools, while smaller sizes like 4″x8″ or 6″x12″ may be easier to work with on pools that have curves or kidney-shaped designs.

General Installation Steps

  1. Begin by dry-laying the Travertine Pool Coping around the perimeter of the pool. This allows you to mark and adjust the layout as needed to better align with the pool’s shape.

  2. Use a diamond blade saw to make any necessary cuts for a custom fit.

  3. Apply a flexible thin-set mortar, such as FlexBond, using a trowel. A mortar bed of approximately 1″ in depth is often used to set the coping securely in place.

  4. If any cuts have been made, you may choose to lightly sand the edges for a smoother appearance and more comfortable finish.

Every pool installation is unique, and site-specific factors such as climate, substrate, and pool design should be considered when determining the best approach.
